WHAT SUPPORT LOOKS LIKE
Working alongside, not doing it for you.
Staff work directly alongside the person on the skills they’re building – building a grocery list together, working out a budget, getting to the store, sticking to the list, and getting groceries home. Behind the scenes: casework and matching the right staff to the right person, plus communication with everyone else on the person’s team.
When this may be appropriate
Lives in their own home.
Minimal behavioral needs; consistent in using support offered.
Working toward goals in community participation, health/safety/wellness, household management, or adaptive skills.

The ILO Approach
We coordinate closely across every team involved with a person – matching caseloads thoughtfully so the right staff person is working with the right individual, and communicating regularly with other providers to avoid duplicating effort.

DHS's "with training" category covers both support and training together — never training-only or support-only. In practice, that means staff help someone follow through on daily tasks while also building new skills, across four areas: community participation, health/safety/wellness, household management, and adaptive skills. ILO only offers the "with training" version — not the "without training" or "family training" versions some other providers use.
-
Yes. The two are set up as distinct services on purpose — a different staff person handles the 24-Hour Emergency Assistance calls than the one doing in-person In-Home Supports work, and the two are coordinated internally but billed and delivered separately so there's no overlap.
-
No — this service only supports people who genuinely already live in their own home; it doesn't extend to helping someone find housing in the first place. We confirm living situation as part of the referral to make sure this is the right fit before moving forward.
